Online Libraries and UTA Library Resources

One of the very best aspects of the internet is the sheer amount of information available online. Many sites contain full-text books and articles available to the public; the UTA Library subscribes to many databases in every academic and popular subject (available to UTA students and faculty only). If you need material or background information for a research paper or project, try these resources:

  • UTA Libraries Online: UTA's libraries have two main categories of resources: print and electronic. The library's electronic catalog PULSE will give you call numbers for print resources, as well as links to electronic sources. Electronic resources can be browsed by type of material or by subject area; browse around to see what's available. The library staff have also put together helpful guides on many topics related to research, documentation, and writing, and they've even arranged some of them according to which class they might help you with.
  • The Internet Public Library
  • The Library of Congress: Not just books and articles -- pictures and sound, too.
  • The Universal Library: A site that aims to make all human knowledge available online.
  • Bartleby.com Reference: A collection of encyclopedias, almanacs, and other reference books on topics ranging from anatomy to mythology.
  • The St. Martin's Handbook Online Writer's Almanac: Look at this page for access to basic facts on a variety of subjects, links to the full text of religious texts, and some reputable sites on the web containing information in a variety of academic disciplines. There is no index page, so find your subject on the navigation bar on the left. For one of the best collections of annotated links to resources for writers online (both help with writing and research resources), go to the St. Martin's Handbook Links page.
