Construction of a Topographic Map and Topographic Profile

Figure 7-8 contains the basic elements of a topographic map: scale, reference, elevations, and drainage network. Use the following instructions to complete the topographic map and topogrpahic profile. After completing the map and profile, answer the questions that follow.

1. Construct a topographic map with a contour interval of 20' using the elevations and stream pattern. You should first attempt to construct the map by lightly drawing the contour lines in pencil. Once you are satisfied with the map, darken the lines with pencil or ink. You will need to interpolate contours between known elevations.

2. Construct a topographic profile along the line connecting "X" and "Y". Use the ruled grid below the map for this purpose.
