Welcome to the Technical Committee on Electrical Machines
Close to 60% of all the electricity that is generated worldwide is consumed by electric machines. Whether used in a home appliance, industrial drive, office product, heavy duty mining equipment, or as traction drive in an electric or hybrid electric vehicle, electric machinery play a prominent role in shaping our future and affect every aspect of our long term energy policies. Over the past century and in the face of new inventions such as microprocessors, semiconductor power devices, and new materials design and control of electric machineries have undergone substantial changes. Power electronic, as an enabling technology, has played a major role in influencing the ways electric machines are designed, operated, and monitored. This has resulted in development of more efficient, more precise, more compact, and more fault tolerant equipments that can surpass their mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic counterparts. Aerospace, automotive, and military products are good examples of this growing trend.
The electric machine technical committee of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society is established in 2006 to address the vital need for furthering and enriching the research and development on electromechanical energy converters across the globe. It is my distinct pleasure as the chairman of eth electric machines committee to welcome you to our website and would like to invite you to explore our various activities in promoting the art of design and control in electric machinery. If you are interested in our programs or would like to join forces as a member, or simply require more information on a related subject please do not hesitate to contact me by EML :
Sincerely
Aldo Boglietti Chairman, Electric Machines Committee IEEE Industrial Electronics Society
