Welcome to VPPC 2007

Welcome to the IEEE Vehicular Power and Propulsion Conference (VPPC) 2007 in Arlington, Texas. The VPPC was originally set up in 2005 and, 2 years later, the VPPC has evolved into a comprehensive technical conference addressing state-of-the-art and recent achievements in vehicular electromechanics and automotive electronics. Undoubtedly new advances in vehicular electronics and automotive energy conversion will play a major role in shaping the world in years to come and hence deserves due attention by governments, academia, and industry alike. We have noticed this trend in an increasing number of submissions and excellent contributions to VPPC 2007.

Our technical program includes an interesting variety of topics ranged from energy storage system to various aspects of simulation and development of modern hybrid vehicles. The technical program will last three days, from Monday, September 10th through Wednesday, September 12th. Three Educational tutorials covering interesting current topics are held on Sunday, September 9th. These tutorials are open to all registered guests at VPPC’07 free of any extra charge. In addition to 16 technical sessions, we have organized nine invited technical tracks addressing special topics of interest. Compliment to our exemplary technical program, we have organized 5 distinguished plenary speeches in the first day of conference as well as 5 keynote speeches that are offered during the conference on exciting areas of research. These speeches are offered by experts from Government, industry and academia from around the world.

I would like to extend our sincere thanks to the members of organizing committee, international advisory board, reviewers, and students who have offered their time, expertise, and ideas throughout this process. It is my hope that at the end of this conference, we would not only gain knowledge to better face the challenges ahead, but also bring back with us the valuable relationships forged during the conference among members of the industry, government, and academia.

I look forward to meeting you in Arlington.
