1-14 Penalties for Falsification and Improper Certification of Time Cards

  1. Section 37.10 of the Texas Penal Code provides that an individual is guilty of a Class A misdemeanor for knowingly making a false entry or creating a false entry by alteration of a government record. Section 37.10 also includes the offense of making, presenting or using any record, document or thing with falsity and with intent that it be taken as a genuine government record. The Penal code defines government record as anything:

    1. Belonging to, received by or kept by government for information; or,

    2. Required by law to be kept by others for information of government; (i.e., time records).
  2. Government is defined by Section 1.07 of the Penal code to include any branch or agency of the State and would include The University of Texas at Arlington.
