The B.A. degree in Political Science requires 127 hours, with the first two years (approximately 60 hours) focusing on general education courses and the final two years (the remaining 60-plus hours) concentrating on courses in the major, minor, and electives.

Once you have 85 hours on your transcript, you should ask an advisor to complete and file an official degree plan.  However, as soon as you know that you plan to major in Political Science, you should be fully knowledgeable of the degree plan.  Do not hesitate to ask an advisor if you ever have any questions or would like a "draft" degree plan.

All students should be aware of their responsibilities for their education and for their personal development at UTA.  Be sure to read to section in the Undergraduate Catalog on Student Responsibilities.

Following are a number of links and references to additional information and resources:

  • Transfer Equivalencies.  All decisions about transferring credit (evaluating transcripts and the like) are made in the Office of Admissions.  The Department of Political Science cannot evaluate transcripts from other institutions.  Transfer students should be familiar with the residency requirements (see above) and the limit of 72 hours from a junior or community college.
