Flexible Summer Hours Program

Monday, May 3, 2010

Dear Colleagues:

President James D. Spaniolo

Summer is rapidly approaching, and we are pleased to announce that the Summer Hours Program will be offered again this year. The flextime program will begin on June 1 and end on Aug. 13.

Participating employees will work a compressed work week consisting of four 10-hour days with one day off during the work week. Departments or employees who choose not to participate in the program will continue to work their regular schedules.

Employees who wish to participate in the program are required to have their manager's written approval of their flexible schedules before beginning the program. Schedules for non-exempt employees must also include a minimum of a 30-minute lunch break.

Participating employees should be open to changes in their approved schedules, including altering or ending the flexible schedule, if it appears that flextime is no longer in the best interest of the employee, the department, or the University.

The operational needs of the University must continue to be met during this time. All offices must be open Monday through Friday during normally scheduled office hours. The amount of flexibility a department provides to participating employees will be determined by the department's operational needs and/or various work assignments. Therefore, approval of a flexible summer schedule is strictly at the discretion of the manager and the department.

If you have questions about the Summer Hours Program, please contact Robert James (rdjames@uta.edu) or Eunice Currie (currie@uta.edu) in the Office of Human Resources at 2-5554.

Sincerely,

James D. Spaniolo
President
