Professional Learning Community (PLC) Program now accepting Applications
Deadline: Friday, AUgust 15

The Professional Learning Community (PLC) program has expanded to for groups for the academic year 2014-15, each with its own focus. There will be opportunities for software experimentation, course redesign, group conference attendance, informal learning, and a project based on the group's theme. Collaboration will take place through on-campus and online sessions among the group members and with national and international leaders in educational technology.

This year's PLCs are: Connected Learning and Building Online Community facilitated by Andy Herzog, sponsored by UTA Libraries; Open Educational Resources facilitated by Suzanne Beckett, sponsored by UTA Libraries; Tech Tools for Teaching facilitated by Diane Mitschke, School of Social Work, sponsored by the LINK Lab; Retooling the Core facilitated by Laurel Mayo, sponsored by the LINK Lab.

Faculty are invited to expand their expertise through this professional development opportunity. The application form and additional information on the program and each group calendar can be found at the LINK Lab website. Applications will close on Friday, August 15. PLC Alumni members are eligible to participate again.

    For new faculty members who have not yet completed their human resources employment paperwork and signed up for employment benefits. Please be sure to bring at least two forms of identification as indicated on USCIS Form I-9.

  • Fall Meeting of the University Faculty & Associates
    Tuesday, October 7 at 4:00 PM -- University Center, Rio Grande Ballroom
    Provost Ronald Elsenbaumer will preside over this annual event in which new Emeritus Professors will be honored, new members of the faculty will be introduced, and remarks on the university will be delivered by President Vistasp Karbhari.
    Open to the public; new faculty and new librarians are especially welcome to attend.

The "Maverick Battalion" has roots that extend back into the institution's history when UT Arlington was the Carlisle Military Academy (1902-1913).
