Save the Date: May Commencement

Beginning this semester, each tenured and tenure-track faculty member should plan on attending his or her college or school commencement ceremony. (Non-tenured faculty are encouraged to attend as well, but should not feel professionally obligated to do so.) The dates and times for the University’s seven ceremonies are as follows:

Friday, May 9 
11:00 a.m SUPA/SOCW/University Studies
3:00 p.m College of Liberal Arts
8:00 p.m. Graduation Celebration (no regalia required)
Saturday, May 10
11:00 a.m College of Business 
 3:00 p.m College of Engineering
 7:00 p.m.  College of Nursing
Sunday, May 11
 3:00 p.m  College of Education and Health Professions
 7:00 p.m College of Science and School of Architecture

All faculty in attendance must appear in full academic costume, the traditional robe, hood, cap and tassel appropriate to their academic rank. To learn more about commencement, visit UT Arlington’s Commencement website.

Faculty Regalia Rental or Purchase: Special Event

For faculty members seeking to rent or purchase academic regalia (a full outfit or individual items), the UT Arlington Bookstore will be hosting a Faculty Regalia Event to answer questions.

  • Tuesday, February 25 –10 am to 3 pm, Neches/Pedernales Room, University Center
  • Wednesday, February 26 – 3 pm to 7 pm, San Saba Rom, University Center
  • Thursday, February 27 – 10 am to 3 pm, San Saba Room, University Center

Those wishing to purchase their own regalia may view samples and speak with bookstore personnel who will help you design an academic costume appropriate to one’s degree level, field of study, and graduate institution.

Doctoral Candidate Regalia

Doctoral candidates are strongly encouraged to attend the Faculty Regalia Event on the dates posted above. UT Arlington offers three choices of gowns for doctoral candidates. The Doctoral regalia are a custom order and require 8 weeks for delivery. For more information, click here or contact the UT Arlington Bookstore.

Position Vacancy (Internal Candidates Only)

The University of Texas at Arlington is accepting applications (from current UT Arlington faculty only) for the newly created position of Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies and Director of University College. The selected individual will provide campus-wide leadership for, and oversight of, University College, including academic advising and student academic support services; advise academic department heads regarding undergraduate academic program development; and serve as an advocate for undergraduate education in support of the university’s mission. The Center for Community Service Learning (CCSL) is accepting nominations and applications for two faculty awards, one for excellence in service learning and the other for outstanding service to the community? Please nominate deserving colleagues! Materials can be obtained at the CCSL’s “For Faculty” web page. The deadline for this year’s competition is March 18, 2014.
