Faculty Development Leave

All faculty members who have served as full-time assistant, associate, or full professors on the UT Arlington faculty for at least two consecutive academic years are eligible to participate in this program. The period of leave shall be either one year at one-half regular salary or for one semester at full salary. For additional information, please see the FDL program guidelines.

Faculty Development Leaves may be awarded to support a variety of activities including support for publication, research, teaching, and creative activities. The overriding principle upon which evaluation of proposals will be made is the potential for achievement of a degree of excellence that surpasses the normal responsibilities of a faculty member.

The following deadlines must be met in order to assure that FDL grants will be reviewed in a timely manner.

November 30, 2009
Faculty Applicants must submit applications online.
Proposals must be submitted via the Online Proposal Submission System by 5:00 PM.

February 15, 2010
All School/College reviews must be completed online.
For colleges, department-level reviews must completed by whatever interim date is specified by the college’s research committee. Colleges may establish whatever internal deadline they see fit, provided that it allows sufficient time for their research committee to meet the February 15th deadline.

March 15, 2010
University Committee completes reviews and funding recommendations to the VP for Research and the Provost.
