UT Arlington Geology professor Appointed to National Science foundation Panel

ARLINGTON—John Holbrook of The University of Texas at Arlington Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences was recently appointed to a two-year term on the National Science Foundation (NSF) Panel convened for the Sedimentology and Paleontology Program.

The 10-member panel meets twice each year in Arlington, Virginia, to evaluate and rank research proposals to the National Science Foundation that address the fossil record of life and the evolution of physical Earth processes. The panel receives approximately 250 proposals per year covering such topics as response of the Earth to climate extremes, causes of mass extinction and evolutionary change, origins of natural resources, and other topics related to development of Earth and life through time.
