General Purpose:
The Board is soliciting innovative educational initiatives that would represent a new or expanded partnership between the eligible institution and one or more hospitals with the goal of increasing enrollment capacity and graduation rates in initial RN-licensure programs. The initiative would have a strong research and evaluation component common to pilot projects.

The Board will consider applications proposing a range of partnering activities but strongly suggests one or more of the following areas on concentration:

  • Work based instruction/work study initiatives
  • Regionalization of instructional activities (e.g. teaching of basic skills or advanced skills, clinical placement) within a geographic area
  • Curriculum redesign (didactic and clinical) incorporating the use of new instructional technology
  • Preparing and retaining advanced practice nurses and/or preceptors for nurse educator roles.

Limitations:

  1. An institution may be named on a maximum of one proposal and may be a partner in one other proposal. A project director may only manage one NIG grant during the grant period.
  2. Budget restrictions apply, see full instructions.

Cost Sharing Requirements:
Cost sharing of 15% or more may receive special credit in the grant review process.

Special Instructions:
