2008. External Examiner, Ph.D. Dissertation defense, Department of History, Howard university. Student: Karen B. Bell. Dissertation Title: "Narratives of Freedom: Communities of Resistance in Low Country Georgia, 1798-1897."

2006. Supervising Professor, Ph. D. Dissertation. Topic: "Anglo-African Approaches to Land and Boundary Disputes in Colonial and Post-Colonial Cameroon." Student: Emmanuel Mbah. Dr. Mbah has revised his disseration and published it in book form, Land/Boundary Conflict in Africa: The Case of Former British Colonial Bamenda, Present-Day North-West Province of the Republic of Cameroon, 1916-1996 (New York: The Edwin Mellen Press, 2008). Professor Jalloh wrote the "Foreword" to the book. 

2003.  Supervising Professor, Master's Thesis in History.  Topic  "Ghanaian Perspectives on Diaspora Blacks."  Student: Harold Harris.

1998.  Supervising Professor, M.A. History Thesis titled, "The Nonliterate and the Transfer of Knowledge in West Africa." Student: LaNette W. Thompson.


1998.  Supervising Professor, B.A. (Hons) Thesis titlled, "The Social Consequences of Structural Adjustment Program in Sub-Saharan Africa:  A Case Study of Nigeria." Student: Funmilola Akinkugbe.


1996.  Supervising Professor,  M.A. History Thesis titled, "Ideological Response to British Imperalism:  The Cases of M.K. Gandhi and Kwame Nkruman."  Student: Eric Martin.  In 1996 Mr. Martin received a fellowship to pursue a Ph.D. in World History at Northeastern University in Boston.


1996.   McNair Mentor.  I supervised a graduating senior McNair Fellow whose research was titled "An Overdue Promissory Note:  Reparations, Historical Debt, Racial Inequality, and Economic Dysfunction."

I continue to supervise or serve on the master's and doctoral committees of several graduate students.

2003  Organizer, Third Distinguished African Lecture Series co-sponsored by The African Program.  The event featured Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Over 2,700 people attended the event, including political, education, religious, and business dignitaries from across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.  The main theme of Archbiship Tutu's lecture was that "We are one family and God says in this family there are no outsiders."

1986 I participated with Americans in a cross-cultural program aimed at promoting grassroots rural development in Sierra Leone.  It was organized by the Voiuntary Workcamp Association of Sierra Leone and Crossroads Africa.
1981 I was appointed head of the student body at St. Edward's Secondary School, Freetown, Sierra Leone in recognition of my outstanding leadership abilities.
1981 I represented the Sierra Leone United Nations Student Association at a Non-Governmental Organizations' conference on, "Energy, Development, and Survival" at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
