EVSE 5322-001 - Human Health Risk Assessment
Spring 2009

Course Description

This course will set forth the human health risk assessment process, clarifying the methodologies and guidelines that should be used in conducting human health risk assessments.  A complete risk assessment will be conducted by each student throughout the semester to be completed by the end of the semester. The Integrated Exposure Uptake Biokinetic Model for Lead in Children (IEUBK) will be dicussed.. Also, the basics of probabilistic risk assessment will be covered in 2 sessions.

Course Description

This course is an introductory course on how human activity affects the global environment and how global environmental changes subsequently effect human health.  The first part of the course will review the effects of the world population on the environment. The second part of the course will address the role of human activities in creating a toxic environment and resulting adverse health effects. The third part of the course will assess the impact on human health of our degraded environment caused by human activities.
