This FOA issued by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) encourages research grant applications (R21) from institutions/organizations that propose to investigate the basic science and mechanisms of action underlying the biomechanical, immunological, endocrinological and/or neurophysiological consequences of manual therapies, such as spinal manipulation, mobilization and massage therapy.
