an inquiry or investigation conducted by an undergraduate student that makes an original intellectual or creative contribution to the discipline   -Council for Undergraduate Research (CUR)

Undergraduate Research is defined at UTA as the engagement of an undergraduate student in conducting a research, scholarly or creative project under the mentorship of a faculty member or UTA researcher.

The Office of Research strongly encourages undergraduate students conducting research, scholarly or creative activities under the mentorship of a UTA faculty member or researcher to register the experience.  Registering undergraduate research creates:

-  a record of students participating in research

- student access to optional professional development seminars and workshops

- a record for faculty of their mentoring activities

- university tracking of engagement in undergraduates in research
