Troubleshooting: Can't Login to Second Life

You have downloaded and installed the Second Life Viewer software. Then you opened it and entered your Second Life username and password, and clicked "Login". But something went wrong and you can't login.

  1. If you think you forgot your username or password, you can reset your password or get your username on the Second Life website.

  2. Are you logging in from your workplace? Most hospitals and other healthcare facilities, public schools, or corporate workplaces have firewalls which will prevent you from logging in to Second Life. In this case, you'll need to try logging in from home or another location (a public wifi location, for example).

  3. If you're at home, check for a firewall for your internet modem or router that might need adjusting to allow you to connect to Second Life.

  4. "Login failed. DNS could not resolve the host name" -- Fix DNS error
