Full Disk Encryption
Full disk encryption provides protection for computers and laptops by encrypting the hard drive and requiring a password at boot up to access the system. Should the computer or laptop ever be stolen then any data stored on the hard drive will not be accessible to those who do not have the password. However, one should always create a strong password when implementing security on any computer system and never keep the password in a place where it can easily be found (for example on a post it note stuck to the computer or in the computer bag).
If you have additional questions about full disk encryption, please look at the FAQ. If your question isn't answered, please email the Information Security Office at security@uta.edu.
