Tutoring Basics

Tutors arrange their own schedule. The number of hours tutored depends upon student demand for the subject area. Tutoring hours are not guaranteed.

Tutoring sessions must be held on the UTA campus between the hours of 7:00 AM and 10:00 PM.

Tutors receive $8.00 per hour with the potential to earn up to $10.00 per hour as they gain experience and attend required training.

UTA students pay $6.50 per hour for tutoring and Student Service Fees fund the remainder of the tutor wage (Cost-Share Tutoring).

Application Procedures

Register with Student Employment and complete the online application process. You may apply for as many positions as you are qualified to tutor.

Submit transcripts from colleges you have attended other than UTA.

Obtain a completed "Tutor Reference" letter from a UTA professor who can attest to your competency in one of the specific courses you have listed to tutor. If you have listed more than one subject area (math, English, business, etc.), we prefer a reference letter from a professor in each subject area (no more than a total of 2 reference letters are needed).

Be available to attend all required tutor training. This includes an initial ten hour training course with an additional 2 hours each semester.
