Alpha Kappa Delta (Omicron Chapter) Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) is an international sociology honor society that was founded in 1920 by Dr. Emory S. Bogardus. AKD plays an important role in encouraging and recognizing high quality social research. It accomplishes this by sponsoring an annual paper competition for undergraduate and graduate students, supporting chapters in the development of research workshops, and sponsoring the journal Sociological Inquiry. AKD also supports student travel to regional sociology conferences, giving students the opportunity to present their research and meet with others who are active in the discipline. See AKD's web page for more information, including membership requirements. The faculty advisor to AKD is Chunping Han. Useful Links |
