Sandra Myres Graduate Research Assistant
As part
of its efforts to support faculty research, the Center hires a Graduate
Research Assistant who conducts research at UTA Special Collections and
other related facilities. Named after the late Sandra Myres, UTA Professor
of History, this position is held by qualified graduate students. In order
to hold this position, students must have demonstrated skills in conducting
research. Knowledge of Spanish is desirable, but not required.
Since establishing the Sandra Myres GRA in 1991, five people have held the
position (David Filewood, Jose Delgado, Fred Hoover, Jimmy Bryan, and Linda
Pelon). The GRA works twenty hours per week in assisting the Center faculty.
To request assistance from the GRA, faculty use the attached form outlining
their interests and needs. Up to four or five faculty may be assisted at
any one time; therefore, the Graduate Research Assistant needs to be able
to both work independently and to be able to handle more than one assignment
at one time. All requests for assistance come through the Center Director.
The Center Director assists the Graduate Research Assistant in prioritizing
the workload. The Graduate Research Assistant is normally acknowledged in
publications involving his/her research efforts. For more information, contact:
