The UT Arlington School of Social Work invites nominations and applications for one tenure track Assistant Professor position effective fall semester 2010.

  • An MSW and a Ph.D. in social work or related field are required, as is having at least one journal article publication.  Individuals with strong methodological research skills will be given priority. A commitment to research, obtaining external funding, and scholarship are required.
  • Teaching experience is desired, as well as the ability to teach in two core areas of the curriculum; micro practice and HBSE (preferred), policy, research and macro practice, the ability to teach across program levels (BSW, MSSW and Ph.D.),  and the ability and interest in teaching Distance Education and/or online courses.
  • Candidates with an interest in areas such as Gerontology, Health, and Mental Health are especially desired.  Two years post BSW or MSW social work practice experience in a human service agency or institution is required.
  • Members of minority groups, Spanish-speaking persons, women, and individuals with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.


The University of Texas at Arlington is part of the University of Texas system serving approximately 28,000 students in an affordable, convenient city of 330,000 at the heart of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, where a range of cultural arts, sports, and family entertainment is available.  The School of Social Work enrolls more than 900 BSW, MSSW and Ph.D. students and participates in several distance education programs.  The School offers a dual degree Ph.D. Program with the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in Monterrey, Mexico.  Also offered are cooperative MSSW Programs in partnership with West Texas A&M University in Canyon, TX, and Lubbock Christian University in Lubbock, TX, and a cooperative BSW Program with McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas.  The School is home to the Center for Child Welfare; and the Community Services Center, which offers both clinical and community services. The School also offers a Legislative Internship Program.  It is home to four professional journals:  the Journal of Technology and Human Service, The Journal of Policy Practice, and Adoption Quarterly and is a co-sponsor of Social Perspectives/Perpectivas Sociales.  For further information please see http:// www.uta.edu/ssw.
