Welcome to the Department of Field Instruction

This site is designed to allow practicum students, agencies, field instructors, and field liaisons to access practicum information, complete applications, update user information, and understand and manage the overall practicum processes.

Field instruction is an integral component of the School of Social Work curriculum. The practicum supports the development of professionally reflective, self-evaluating, knowledgeable and competent social work practitioners. Field students are assigned to affiliated agencies where they engage in supervised learning activities that provide practical experiences in the application of knowledge, theory, and skills acquired in the prerequisite professional foundation and advanced curricular areas. Our mission is to research, evaluate, document, and provide appropriate field practicum experiences in accordance with the evaluative standards set forth by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
