Social Work Assistant Professor Awarded Competitive Scholar Course for Innovative Health Disparity Research

Dr. Katherine Sanchez, assistant professor in the School of Social Work at UT Arlington, was honored for her cutting-edge work in health disparity research, practice and policy interventions as a 2015 scholar for the NIMHD Translational Health Disparities Course. The program, Integrating Principles of Science, Practice and Policy in Health Disparities Research, will be held in Bethesda, Maryland from August 3-14, 2015.

The program will focus on methods, concepts, applications and key issues of health disparity research. In addition, the course will provide Dr. Sanchez and other scholars the opportunity to provide knowledge and research tools essential for conducting and developing translational and trans disciplinary research for the purpose of eliminating health inequalities. As a participant of the health disparities program, Dr. Sanchez will be responsible for sharing the learning benefits with colleagues in the form of presentations, trainings and consultations.
