Field Instructor Academy
(Department of Field
Instruction Approval Required for Registration)
Instructors—Ellen Murphy, LCSW, Director
of Field Instruction, UTA,
and Gilda Williams, BSW, Student Development Specialist, UTA
In this seminar for SSW
Department of Field Instruction field instructors, you examine the goals
and objectives of the UTA Bachelor of Social Work program and Master of
Science in Social
Work program, and their relationships to field
instruction. You also explore ways to facilitate the integration of
theory and practice with practicum students. Course content includes
field instruction approaches to supervision, student learning needs, and
evaluation of student performance. Seminar instructors use a
presentation style that combines lecture, small group activities,
simulation and role-playing. New field instructors must attend this
training on a one-time basis before supervising a social work student in
a UTA field practicum. Classes are restricted in size.
