Dear Prospective Student:

Congratulations on your choice to pursue a career in Social Work. We are delighted you are interested in the UT Arlington School of Social Work for your degree. You have carefully researched your educational options and have landed at one of the top-ranked Social Work schools in the country. Adrianna Harpole Watson (Bachelors’ of Social Work class of 2005) illustrates how successful our program is.

Adrianna was hired by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tarrant County after she completed her internship with them. At Big Brothers Big Sisters, Adrianna works as a Match Services Specialist utilizing her knowledge of administrative practice while focusing on planning and implementing volunteer training and matching volunteers with children throughout Tarrant County. She also uses the knowledge she gained through her studies in the BSW program to assist with direct practice functions of the agency like child interviews and assessments.

Adrianna says, “The BSW program provided the tools I needed to be successful throughout the profession, in many social work settings, and in my future career endeavors. Faculty members are eager to see students and the profession of social work succeed. Social work is about making a difference and the School of Social Work BSW program made a difference in my life by preparing me to succeed in the future.”

Adrianna is not alone in her ability to secure an exciting and meaningful job in social work. Our students are privileged to have more than 300 field placement sites to choose from and are often hired soon after their field work is completed.

Examples of organizations contracted as field sites include Child Protective Services, domestic violence shelters, shelters for homeless people, hospitals, United Way, programs working with alcohol/drug abuse issues, schools and family-counseling programs
