Program Mission

The mission of The New Connections Programs is to build healthy and nurturing families by teaching the skills to improve parenting, support recovery, build resiliency skills in children, strengthen knowledge of child development, and address difficult parent and child issues.

The New Connections Programs is a Dallas County service of the School of Social Work at UT Arlington. Since 1996, New Connections has provided substance abuse prevention and intervention services for Dallas County families through State, private and foundation grants, and contracts.

In 2000, the program was named an Exemplary Substance Abuse Prevention Program, one of only 30 programs in the country that year, by the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors (NASADAD) and the National Prevention Network (NPN).
