The Comin’ Up Academic Coordinator (AC) is responsible for providing the delivery of case management, direct program services and activities to participants during each program year. Under the direction of the Director of Case Management, the AC is responsible for the recruitment, selection, assessment, supervision, and year-end evaluation of all program participants; monitors participants’ academic progress; provides academic advising and information; and provides career advising, assessment, and information.
The AC is responsible for assisting participants to meet their educational goals. Educational goals include, but are not limited to obtaining a GED, obtaining a high school diploma, and assisting interested youth with preparing, applying, and enrolling into college. The AC assists the Director of Case Management with coordinating tutoring services provided by Education Service Providers. The AC completes all related duties and tasks as directed by the Director of Case Management.
Qualifications include a Bachelors degree in Social Work, Sociology, Education, or the like with at least 2 years professional experience working with at risk youth. Must also have 1 year experience providing assistance with obtaining a GED, alternative schools, traditional high schools, and/or postsecondary enrollment. Knowledge and experience with college and financial aid process is preferred. Strong planning and organizational abilities, excellent documentation skills, and attention to detail are required.
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license, clean driving history and must be at least 21 years of age to be covered under the Boys & Girls Clubs vehicle insurance.
