General Description:
The Military Veteran Peer Network (MVPN) is an affiliation of Service Members, Veterans and Family Members (SMVF) dedicated to establishing camaraderie and trust with each other, identifying and vetting community resources and, collectively, contributing to the communities where they live. MVPN accomplishes this through commitment, training and volunteerism. MVPN trains in Peer Support and Mental Health Awareness so that not only can we care, we can act and advocate appropriately. MVPN volunteers by being Peers, Peer Group Leaders and citizens making a difference.

The MVPN is a program contracted by the State of Texas through the Department of State of Health Services. The Department of State Health Services contracts with Local Mental Health Authorities throughout the state to hire Volunteer Coordinators to recruit and train volunteers to serve a peer group supporters in their designated areas. The Field Clinicians will collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinators in their assigned region to provide mental health services to SMVF in need.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Client Services:
Provide short term counseling for SMVF.
Refers SMVF to appropriate Mental Health providers.
Assess SMVF for other areas of need that are negatively impacting their quality of life.
Provide comprehensive case management services to SMVF.
Participate in weekly Field Clinician Case Consultation meetings.
Provide appropriate referrals and linages to community and mental health resources.

Outreach and Engagement:
Provide Military Cultural Competency trainings to providers in your region.
Provide Suicide Prevention trainings to providers in your region.
Research and record quality Veteran resources in your region.

Establish a cooperative working relationship with community partners serving Veterans.
Work closely with Volunteer Coordinators in your region to identify and document Veteran service organizations in your region.
Provide clinical assistance to Volunteer Coordinators who are assisting SMVF to access non-crisis mental health services.

Client Data & Record Keeping:
Manage veteran data by entering client data into the Veteran Relationship Management System.
Manage Veteran service organization data by entering information into the Veteran Relationship Management System.
Track referrals made to mental health resources into the Veteran Relationship Management System.
Utilize YourMembership website to stay in touch with activities and events going on in region served.

Work Schedule:
Typically M-F 8a – 5p.
Some non-traditional work hours such as evenings and weekends will be required.
Travel within region is required.

Central Texas- Killeen
Panhandle- Amarillo
West Texas- Lubbock or Midland/Odessa

Required Qualifications:
Combat Veteran – OIF/OEF/OND
Masters Level Mental Health degree i.e. Social Work, Counseling
Minimum licensure requirement, LMSW, LPC-i, LMFT-A

Preferred Qualifications:
Bi-lingual (Spanish/English)
Client Relationship Management experience
