The UTA student chapter of the National Association of Social
Workers (NASW) links students at the UTA School of Social Work to social workers locally as well as throughout Texas and the U.S. The goal of the NASW Student
Chapter is to bring students together with professional Social Workers. This group provides students with opportunities for networking, professional development, and outside opportunities that can enhance their educational experiences. The group meets regularly. Watch for flyer’s posted on the Social Work campus.
h3. Social Work Constituency Council
The Social Work Constituency Council (SWCC) has two main
purposes:
- to represent social work students in the larger UTA university community
- to provide social work students with educational programs, and relevant services and information, on a regular basis
The Council enables students to become more involved with their
education and with the university. The SWCC holds regular meetings. The SWCC office is currently housed in the Social Work student lounge. For more information, visit the SWCC

h3. North Texas Chapter of the Association for the Advancement
of Social Work with Groups
The North Texas Chapter of the Association for the Advancement of Social with Groups (AASWG) is a joint student and professional organization that meets regularly at UTA to discuss topics relevant to groupwork such as grief work with children and drama therapy. h3. Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society
Phi Alpha is a national social work honor society for undergraduate social work majors, faculty and local practitioners. The purposes of Phi Alpha Honor Society are to provide a closer bond among students of social work and promote humanitarian goals and ideals. Phi Alpha fosters high standards of academic excellence and training for social workers.
UTA’s Iota Omega Chapter of the Phi Alpha National Social Work Honor Society was started in the Spring of 2001 and is open to all BSW and MSSW students. For more information, contact Dr. Cobb, the chapter’s faculty advisor.
