FOUNDATIONS OF LEADERSHIP (1-0) 1 hour credit. Experienced
campus leaders, known as Peer Leadership Trainers (PLT's), under the supervision
of the staff in the Department of Student Activities, facilitate class discussion
and assist students in identifying the necessary skills for effective leadership
in university organizations, and in both personal and professional settings.
Topics include: leadership vs. management,
communication, leadership styles and personality traits, teambuilding, ethical
leadership, leadership and change, and diversity and cultural awareness.
Opportunities are provided for group problem solving, and team interaction
and collaboration. Pass-fail grades will be awarded.
The
PLT's are current UTA leaders who have knowledge and leadership experience
and can relate to those emerging leaders. The course is open to any current
