Heart House Dallas is a free afterschool program for low-income, at-risk children in the Vickery Meadow community, dedicated to providing them with academic assistance, a safe place to go afterschool, and the benefits of positive relationships with caring adults.

Tutor/Mentor - Volunteers will serve as tutors for children assisting with homework, reading, arts & crafts, daily lessons, sports & recreation, and other activities while serving as a positive role model. Sports Coach: Facilitate and lead outdoor sports time for a group of children. Minimum: 1 hour per week. Computer Center Monitor: Oversee computer time for a group of children playing educational games and doing their homework. Minimum: 1 hour per week. Other opportunities to work with the children: Storyteller, Reading tutor, Field Trip Chaperone Other opportunities that don't entail working with the children: Media/PR Assistant, Creative Mural Painter, Fundraising Assistant, Office Helper Group Opportunities: Birthday Party (bring cupcakes over and help us celebrate the birthdays of kids we serve), Holiday Party (organize and carry out a Holiday Party), Mural Painting

During the school year, our program runs weekdays, 3:30 - 6:30pm. Volunteer tutor/mentors are needed to dedicate an hour or more each week.
