The Dallas Public Library has a variety of special programs and events throughout the year that welcome the participation of volunteers. AuthorSpeak (spring). Sponsored by the World Affairs Council and Friends of the Dallas Public Library, this author series brings notable writers, both local and national, to the Dallas Public Library each year. Volunteer tasks include: distributing flyers/programs, assisting with receptions, greeting guests, and other tasks. Every Child Ready to Read (year round). An early literacy program for parents of pre-school children. Volunteer tasks include: workshop facilitator, workshop assistant, help with assembling workshop packets. Personal Resume Assistance Program (year round). Help library customers create or polish their personal resume. Volunteer tasks include: One on one assistance, classroom facilitator, and classroom assistant.
