Description: |
To save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.
Nancy G. Brinker started Susan G. Komen for the Cure in 1982 in Dallas, Texas in honor of a promise she made to her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died from breast cancer at age 36. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world's largest and most progressive grassroots network of survivors and activists working to end breast cancer forever. Komen for the Cure is 125 Affiliates strong, located in cities and communities across the U.S., Germany, Italy and Puerto Rico. Since starting the breast cancer movement 25 years ago, Susan G. Komen for the Cure has transformed the clinic and the culture- how the world talks about and treats this devastating disease-and helped turn millions of breast cancer patients into breast cancer survivors. |
