We are auctioning off a tape boxset. The link to the auction page is on the main page. The auction starts now and ends April 19th. I also updated my comic for any of you that actually read it. I know. I know. My finally updating the comic is one of the seven signs of the apocolypse... ^^;

The list of my anime is all online now. Go look on the main page. I'll be updating the thing as I get more stuff. Ushicon is this week. You must go. It's only a 3 and half hour drive and it's the best con ever.

There was going to be a meeting tomorrow, but the school just had to change their reservation policy without telling me... again. Anyway, sorry about the postponement. Our next meeting will be on January 25. *crosses fingers*.

Ok. Sorry for the lack of updates. The stupid school server decided to write protect all the files and I couldn't update them. So, how many times has everyone seen Two Towers? As of now, I have seen it twice. Time number three will be later today. I finally get to use my free ticket that comes with the extended edition of the Fellowship DVD, but I digress. We will start work on a new schedule. For those of you wondering, there will NOT be a meeting during Ushicon. I am also putting lots of tapes in the library now that I actually have time to make them. It's been a hectic semester. Please keep checking the site for updates, especially this news section.

We will be showing The Ring tonight in the University Center in the Rosebud Theater. This is the original version of the movie in Japanese with English subtitles. It is DVD quality and the subs are not in broken English for once. The American version of The Ring pales before its predecessor. You don't want to miss this. Besides, if I get set up in time, I'll be showing whatever weird stuff is on my computer. Oh, yeah, I updated the meeting schedule, the officers page the main page.

Dude, we're famous or something. Well, I guess famous enough for people to read the website. Yes, now I know that two whole people must looked at the site besides me. :p Two, yes two, people contacted me through e-mail. One was from TCU and will be attending a meeting soon and the other is from Eastern Michigan University and interviewed our club for this magazine article for a class. That's pretty cool. I'm at work and there is nothing to do so yay, update. ^_^

Still no more requests received for the December 14th meeting. Remember, I need them by November 30th. Ah, Procrastination... quite the worthy adversary. It is so... I'll finish that later. In other news, I will not be at the meeting on November 16th. I will be attending the Ushicon staff meeting in Austin. Ushicon is in Austin, TX and goes from January 31 through February 2. Here is the website. .

Happy Halloween, minna-san! Don't forget to send me your requests for what we will show at the December 14th meeting. So far I have One Piece and Chobits 6-7. All requests must be in by November 30. Please refer to earlier news updates for the rules.

W00t! I'm the president again, yo. Those that volunteered for ArlingCon get to decide what we show at the December 14th meeting. E-mail me your suggestons for what we should show by November 30th. You can e-mail me by clicking on my name at the bottome of this post. Here are the rules for submissions:

  1. The anime has to be in either our library or my personal fansub library. My list will be posted with the club library. I will try to keep that updated.
  2. No domesticated titles.
  3. Any submitted anime that takes longer than the average 22 minute episode like a movie or an OVA must be backed up by at least one other volunteer.
  4. No ecchi, yaoi, yuri, or hentai titles.
  5. No Evangelion, Sailor Moon, DBZ, or DBGT! You would not believe the number of requests I get for these. (see rule 2)

I think these rules are reasonable enough, so get in those submissions. So far, the only thing suggested has been One Piece.

You know how you feel when you have nowhere to be for an hour, but that's not enough time to go home and hang there? That's how I feel now so you guys get an update. I'm bored... so bored. I will take this opportunity to say that I really enjoy doing this site and being president and whatnot. Sure, it can be really stressful at times, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. I like helping people get their anime on. Yeah, I'm coo like that. :p Just kidding, but seriously, I really do enjoy delivering anime to the masses or at least the tiny mass that attends our meetings. Can you not tell that I am bored. I'm just sitting here, filling up the school's hard drive space just so I can amuse myself until I have to go to work. Here's some club information. I think the ArlingCon page isn't easy enough to navigate so I'll be fixing it up. I made a bunch of tapes and will put them in the library for this coming meeting. Officer elections are at this coming meeting. If you would like to be an officer or vote for officers, please come to the meeting and participate. Only Anime UTA members may vote and/or run in the Anime UTA election. Only Evil Goddess members may vote and/or run in the Evil Goddess election. Both elections will be one big election that will take place during the break between showings.

ArlingCon was a smashing success! I have a couple of announcements regarding the con. First, I would like to thank all of the officers and the volunteers. Without you, ArlingCon would never have run as smoothly as it did. Of these people, I would especially like to thank our treasurer, Sandy Sumner. She was head of the volunteers and made sure that everyone knew where they had to be. She also made sure I had all my ducks in a row as I took care of the paperwork needed to make sure we would even hava con. I consider her as co-con chair. Second, I would like to thank all those who came for their panels. Third, I would like to thank Adam Sheehan, our previous president, for providing prizes for our gameshows. Adam also brought out the DBZ hummer that was parked outside the UC. If there was anyone I forgot to thank here, I'm really sorry. Just come to the meeting and I'll be sure to thank you then. Aside from thank you's, the person who won the foam weapons tournament must come to our next meeting on October 19th, to claim their prize. Those that volunteered will tentatively get their cds at the next meeting. I am accepting submissions for the volunteer showing now. If you volunteered and want to show something on the December 14th meeting, please contact either the club or myself. My e-mail is at the bottom of this news update. Just click on my name. If you wish to contact any other officer directly, the e-mails can be found in the officers section. Also if you have any suggestions for what we should do for next year, please feel free to contact the club.

In other news, officer elections will be held at this coming meeting. Only Anime UTA members may run/vote for Anime UTA officers. Only Evil Goddess members may run/vote for Evil Goddess officers.

And so the finally meeting of the summer comes to a close. The fall schedule meeting dates have been posted, but we are still deciding on what to show. If any of you want titles shown that are fansubbed and if they are licensed have a release date that is more than 6 months away, please, e-mail the club. I want to show more Sexy Commando Sugoi-yo Masaru-san! I'm so glad that so many of you liked it. I have up to 20. I wish more would come out. Oh, and for those of you with cable, Inu Yasha is going to be on tv during Cartoon Network's Adult Swim Action. It will be taking Yu Yu Hakusho's time slot. I'm sure that means that Yu Yu will just be moved back. Also, in ArlingCon news, we need Anime UTA members to run the dealer's room. Please e-mail the club, if you are interested. Also, we will have a table at AnimeFEST. Come visit us and join the insanity.

The main page and meeting page have been updated. I realized that our Jungle wa Itsumo overlapped. I will not be at the next meeting because I will be in Austin for the UshiCon staff meeting. I'm on video staff. I will try to make it for the end of the meeting. If any of you have questions that can only be answered by me, then please either e-mail me or catch me at the August 3 meeting. Speaking of August, my birthday is on the 12th. *hint hint*

Happy Independence Day everybody! Not too much to report from the anime world or the Anime UTA world other than ArlingCon is on Saturday, October 5. Also, the first volume of Fruits Basket is set to come out October 29, so we will begin selling off our Fruits Basket tapes at the meeting of episode 26, which is August 16. Oh, the Powerpuff Girls Movie rocks!

--Sophie

June 24, 2002

Mwahahahahaha! One episode of Furuba (Fruits Basket) not enough? Well, then come to the next meeting on the 6th of July. We'll be showing 21-23! We're also going to quench your summer thirst for Guu. Oh, go see Lilo and Stitch. That was the funniest movie I've seen in a long time. Disney is finally making good movies again. They're also coming out with another one in November called Treasure Planet. It's futuristic version of Treasure Island. The main character looks like he came out of a fantasy RPG. Enough of Disney. Go see the Powerpuff Girls movie on July 3rd! I can't wait! MIB II! It's a double feature, baby! Wai! Wai!

June 9, 2002

Look, I'm updating on time! I hope our night of old anime sparked some interest in some of the older titles in our library. There's not a whole lot to say in this update except that we will be showing a lot of new titles, a lot of which aired last year or is currently airing in Japan.

The Summer schedule is up. Yes, we will be showing Fruits Basket all the way to the end. Of course, we've dragged it out over the summer. >:D Heh heh. I found out at Akon from Kyle Hebert, the voice of Teen Gohan in DBZ, that Fruits Basket has been pushed back two months because of other anime properties. Funi wishes to finish the next Lupin movie and Blue Gender. This of course means more screenings for us. Whee! Thanks to everyone that went to Akon and stopped by our table. We'll be at AnimeFest too, but I don't know if we'll have a table. We probably will. Oh, I'm still having to update the site through telnet so I can't update the graphics yet. As soon as I can, the new Utako will go up. She's cosplaying again.
