Animation in Japan is completely different from animation in America. All this is because the attitude toward animation is different in Japan than in America. In Japan, it is considered to more of an art form. In America, cartoons are thought to be for children. Only just in the past decade have more mature animated series appeared. Some examples of this are The Simpsons, Futurama, and the Family Guy. Anime also covers a wide variety of subjects and genres. Anime can go from a violent bloodbath to a romantic kissing scene. There is quite literally an anime series for everyone. Anime knows no boundries. There is no subject considered taboo here that it won't cover. This may be its appeal. There are things in anime that is just not shown in America. Death scenes are a good example of this. This is not to say that all anime is bad. That is far from the truth. It is just different. The stories have more depth. Because certain things are not censored, a story can have more impact on the viewer.
