BAND ALUMNI HISTORY

General Description

The UTA Band Alumni Association was formed in 1969 to promote the interest and welfare of the UTA Bands and to offer encouragement and support to the bands in all their endeavors.  The occupations of the members are varied, but all have great memories of the UTA Band and want to give back so that others may have those same wonderful experiences.

The Association  hosts two major fundraisers each year - the UTA Marching Festival and the UTA Concert Band Symposium.  All earnings from these events are put back into the UTA Band Programs.  The alumni association awards two scholarships each year - the Susan E. Lichtenwalter Memorial Scholarship and the UTA Band Alumni Scholarship.  Each of these scholarships are awarded based on evaluation by a panel of judges.  The Association also sponsors the Jack H. Mahan Director's Award, determined by the decisions of the Directors of the UTA Bands.  The Association also sponsors the UTA Band Endowment, which ensures that the UTA Band Programs will have continued financial support from the alumni for many years to come. 

Membership to the UTA Band Alumni is available to all former UTA band members.
