Iranian Students' Society Constitution



The mission of ISS will be to encourage a stronger and wider awareness among multi-cultural students attending the University of Texas at Arlington and to create unity among Iranian students on campus.


  1. Article I.
  2. The official name of the organization will hereby be known as ISS (Iranian Students' Society). ISS will operate in accordance with all university rules and regulations, and is not and will not be affiliated with any other state or national organization


  3. Article II.
  4. Membership will be open to all students, faculty, alumni, and/or staff attending the University of Texas at Arlington.


  5. Article III.
  6. Meetings will be held twice a month, but in case of an emergency any officer may call an "emergency" meeting.

  7. Article IV.
  8. The organization will have an Advisor who will be selected from the faculty and or staff of UTA. The appointment, acceptance, and desired length of assistance is left to the discretion of the advisor. The role of the advisor will be to contribute to the well-being and growth of the organization and its members.

  9. Article V.
  10. There will be an Executive board, which will consist of the following  offices: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Public Relations. The board will be elected in the fall semester of every even year or when vacancies occur. The president will count the votes and the person with the majority of the votes will be the one to hold the specific office he/she was campaigning for.

  11. Article VI.
  12. The officers will be limited in serving for only two consecutive terms in one position; terms being equivalent of one semester.



  1. Section 1
  2. The role of the president will be to oversee the Executive board, serve without bias, prejudice, or favor towards any members of ISS. He or she will call order every meeting. When voting on the election of various offices, he or she will abstain from voting, allowing the president's vote to be the majority in case of a tie.


  3. Section 2 
  4. The role of the Vice President will be to serve as President, if and only if the President cannot perform his or her duties.


  5. Section 3
  6. The role of the Treasurer will be to manage various finances for ISS and be responsible for fundraising activities.


  7. Section 4
  8. The role of the Secretary will be to keep well-organized records of all meetings, events, and functions relevant to the organization.

  9. Section 5
  10. The role of the Public Relations officers will basically be to help promote favorable relations with other organizations that exist at UTA.
