EPSILON
HISTORY Realizing the need for a Hispanic women's organization, Patricia
Banuelos and Jerra Villesca discussed the idea of forming a Hispanic sorority
at the Naomi Vasquez, who was also interested in forming a
Hispanic sorority, assisted Jera with the preliminary steps. They wrote
a letter of intent to the Texas Tech Dean of Students on January 29, 1992. On
February 12, 1992, they received a letter And a packet that included the
History and the Constitution of Kappa Delta Chi. Once the information was
received; Jerra, Naomi, and Patricia went through the proper channels to
establish official organizational status at UTA. On March 13th, elections Were held, and officer positions
were filled as follows.
On March 27th,
elections were held by perspective members to ratify the local constitution.
Kappa Delta Chi was recognized as an official organization at the On September 5-6, 1992, the officers were inducted by
Rebecca Aleman, Norma Madrid, and Lisa Rascon of the Alpha Chapter. A weekend
of learning and sharing evolved into a bond of sisterhood and the Epsilon
Chapter was established. The first pledge class was initiated in the Fall of 1992.
