About Us

NASA is an organization dedicated to supporting Native American students at UTA and the Native American community in general. We also serve as the UTA chapter of the American Indian Science & Engineering Society, a national organization dedicated to supporting Native Americans who pursue science, engineering and technical careers.

Structure

Our organization is supported by a Faculty Advisor and a representative council made up of a President, Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer. The council members are elected by popular vote during one of our meetings. The council members serve a one year term.

Our council members for the 2005-2006 academic year are:

  • Elijah Wahkinney, President
  • The Vice President post is presently vacant
  • The Secretary/Treasurer post is presently vacant

How to Join

We use a Yahoo! Group to communicate with our members. If you would like to subscribe to our mailing list, please send an e-mail to: nasa-aises_uta-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

You can also stop by one of our meetings. We meet regularly to discuss and organize community events. Look for our posted flyers and pavement chalkings around campus to find out where we're meeting. Please contact our Faculty Advisor for current meeting time and location information.

Don't forget that every year we organize and host a Pow Wow which funds the annual NASA Scholarship. Getting involved in that enterprise automatically makes you a member!
