November 1, 2005

The University of Texas at Arlington Psi Chi and the Psychology Society will be hosting our fourth annual Psychology Convention on Saturday, February 25th, 2006. We invite students to attend and to present their research in a supportive learning environment and gain recognition for their work. Student attendees will also have the opportunity to meet peers and faculty from a variety of graduate programs in the North Texas area. The event will also feature an internationally known expert in the psychology of anxiety, testing and health.

Those presenting papers and posters should submit an abstract to the convention committee using the online form or by mailing the form enclosed by Feb. 17th. All students are encouraged to attend regardless of whether they have a paper or poster to present. This year, there will be no registration fee, but all presenters must pre-register. All other attendees are also asked to pre-register to help us estimate attendance.

Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Charles D. Spielberger. Dr. Spielberger’s recent research focuses on anxiety, stress and health psychology. He is the author or editor of over 350 publications, and the creator of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. He was the 100 president of the American Psychology Association as well as a former president Psi Chi (National).

Please visit our website at www.uta.edu/student_orgs/psichi to register online or complete the attached form.  We hope that this event will be both fun and educational for all involved.

Thank you,
