The Big Bent

This is not an optional project. The Big Bent will be polished, at fifteen-minute increments, during regular TBP office hours. If an officer is not in the TBP office during their scheduled office hour, then meet them at the Big Bent site. The Big Bent is located between Nedderman Hall and Woolf Hall in the area known as the engineering mall. Polishing supplies will be provided. Candidates should wear old clothes and may want to bring gloves. Make sure you sign in with the TBP officer to receive credit for your part in polishing the Big Bent.

Time: Oct 1st - 8th during office hours

Pizza Party

Pizza Party is considered as a social event. It will be held on 9/21 noon in NH 105

Carter Blood Drive

Contact Carter Blood Center or another blood center and schedule an appointment for your donation. Bring a receipt of the donation to receive one project credit. The Carter Blood Center's Arlington phone number is (817) 274-0812.

Mission Arlington

Candidates electing to help with these projects may need to attend a brief information session. Services vary from day to day, and may include sorting canned goods, packaging meals, sorting donated supplies, etc.

Park Beautification

This event will take place on 10/15/05 at the Meadowbrook Park in Arlington. Candidates will meet in Nedderman Hall of Flags at 9:15 to arrange carpools. The park beautification will start at 9:30 and last about an hour and a half. A cookout, that counts as a social event, will follow. This is a great time to get any outstanding signatures on your signature list! Candidates may want to bring gloves.

Dean’s Office Assistance

The dean’s office has a program for contacting prospective engineering students. This program requires a follow-up phone call to these prospective students. Candidates who participate will get a list of people to call to discuss topics provided by the dean’s office or answer any questions the student may have. There are also other activities that the dean’s office often needs assistance with.

UTA Volunteers

Candidates will be required to join UTA Volunteers as members and complete one or two one-day projects with UTA volunteers. UTA Volunteers is a student group that plans and implements volunteer and community service programs for UTA and the surrounding community. Each service project with UTA volunteers is counted as a service project for Tau Beta Pi.

Other Projects

You may perform another project than those listed above. The project must be pre-approved in advance by a Tau Beta Pi officer and a receipt of the project that includes the date and hours worked, your name, and the signature of the officiator of the project must be brought to the Tau Beta Pi office to receive credit.

Banquet

A banquest will be held after the member initiation on 11/19, 7:30-9:00PM.

Note: A voucher of some sort is required for all projects to receive credit for the project.
