What is
Transatlantic History?
2008 Forum
The
forum on “What is Transatlantic History?” was a success as it was well-attended
and our presenters did an excellent job presenting their ideas.
Professors and students listening
attentively.
The esteemed panel, from left to
right, Dr. Thomas Adam, Dr. Steven Reinhardt, moderator, Dr. Stanley Palmer,
and Dr. John Garrigus.
Dr. Palmer’s informative and instructive map detailing
the vagaries of defining Atlantic history.
Do we do circum-, cis-, or trans- Atlantic
history?
In the field of Transatlantic History, our presenters
agreed that the Pacific was non-existent, but they gave no really good reasons
for that determination.
Our participants each suggested a short
reading for attendees to read before
the forum on April 10th.
These selections serve as an excellent introduction to the topic.
