Formal Complaint Process

Formal Complaint Form

Formal complaints regarding policies, processes, or staff must be submitted in writing or by email.  Complaints regarding staff should be submitted to the Director of Student Activities & Organizations.  Complaints should be submitted within 10 class days of the incident.  Within 72 hours of receiving the written complaint, the Office of Student Activities & Organizations will respond regarding the complaint process:

  • For policy and process complaints:

    • Staff will review the issue with the Director of Student Activities & Organizations.

    • The complainant will be notified in writing of the result of that meeting and any further decisions made regarding the issue within 10 class days of the receipt of the complaint.

    • If the complainant wishes to appeal the decision, he/she will contact the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs over Student Activities & Organizations.

    • If the complainant is not satisfied with the resolution, an appeal may be made in writing to the Vice President for Student Affairs.

    • Any further action will be determined by the Vice President for Student Affairs.

    • For complaints regarding staff:

      • The Director of Student Activities & Organizations will strive to resolve the issue with the staff person involved.

      • The complainant will be notified in writing of any decisions or changes made within 10 class days of the receipt of the complaint.

      • If the complainant wishes to appeal the decision, he/she will contact the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs over Student Activities & Organizations.

      • If the complainant is not satisfied with the resolution, an appeal may be made in writing to the Vice President for Student Affairs.

Any further action will be determined by the Vice President for Student Affairs.

 

Informal Complaint Process

The Office of Student Activities & Organizations has an open door policy to discuss informal complaints. Informal complaints regarding policies, processes, and programs should be discussed with the staff member responsible for that area. In addition, we welcome comments and suggestions for improvement.
