Summoning a Student

A conduct officer may summon a student for the purpose of discussing allegations that the student has engaged in conduct that may result in disciplinary action. A letter will be mailed to the student at the address appearing in the registrar's records, or may be hand delivered to the student.

If the student fails to attend the appointment set by the Office of Student Conduct, or does not reschedule the appointment, the conduct officer may make a decision in the student's absence or may place a "hold" on the student's enrollment and move forward with a University hearing. Failure to maintain a current address with the registrar, or to provide the postal authorities with a forwarding address, or to refuse to accept a registered or certified letter shall not be a valid reason for failure to comply with a summons letter.

For more information regarding this process please review the Summoning a Student section of the Initiation of Disciplinary Charges in chapter 2 of the Code of Student Conduct & Discipline.
