I think it is a great idea to live anywhere on campus. Over the years living on campus has provided me easy access to all of the facilities like the library, computer lab, and MAC. It has also made it easier for me to get involved and to be informed about what's going on on-campus. I particularly enjoy living in the UTA apartments because I still have all of these benefits but a bit more privacy. What I really love most is having a kitchen, swimming pool, and a washer and dryer. Nothing beats having a washer and dryer in your apartment!

Living on campus brings me joy from making great friends and having them so close by. It saves me gas money, and allows me to get involved in on-campus activities. The great location gives me the freedom to come and go from home and study so I can complete my busy daily schedule.

Can my roommate and I have the rent split evenly and billed to both of us?
No. We lease our apartments by the unit, not by the bed. One person will be designated as the “Leaseholder” and all rent will be charged to that one person. We recommend that roommates sign a Roommate Agreement dictating how much and when rent will be paid. Your RA can provide you with a sample Roommate Agreement or you can access one on the UTA Housing website.

How do I terminate my lease?
You must come into the housing office and fill out an Occupant Termination Notice. Notice of Lease Termination must be submitted in writing. We do not accept verbal termination.

How long are the waiting lists for the apartments?
Waiting lists vary. Please call 817-272-2791 to inquire about your position on the wait list.

If I move out of my apartment, will I get my deposit back?
The $150.00 deposit is to guarantee occupancy and to cover any charges for damages to the premises at the end of the Lease Period and other applicable charges under the Lease Agreement. The University is not obligated to return the security deposit until the Lessee gives the University a written forwarding address for the purpose of refunding the security deposit. The deposit will be refunded less applicable charges pursuant to the Lease Agreement within thirty (30) days after the end of the Lease Agreement Period. Failure of the Lessee to provide a thirty (30) day written notice in advance of termination of this lease will be just cause for forfeiture of security deposit.

What do I do if I lost my apartment key?
If you have lost one of your apartment keys, please contact the Housing Office immediately. For your safety, a lock change will need to be done immediately. There is a $60 charge for the lock change that will be billed to your non-registration student account. You can view your account balances in MyMav.
