Living on Campus

I love A-hall! I have had a blast visiting the many different events that have been hosted by other halls, but there is always something going on in A-Hall. They have pizza parties, poker and movie parties, and volleyball and basketball showdowns. This is the social capital of on campus life! And if you're like me and you want to visit people in other halls, they’re just a three minute walk away. It doesn’t get much better than A-hall.

We’re excited that you are considering living on campus at UT Arlington. We have a variety of housing options available, all with various rental rates and amenities. There is an extensive list of residence hall and apartment amenities on the UT Arlington Housing Web site.

Whether you are interested in living in a residence hall or on-campus apartment, living on campus is a great way to make lifelong friends and to get involved in some of UT Arlington’s traditions.

Studies indicate students who live on campus are more likely to achieve academic success and feel more connected to the University. We offer many fantastic programs and opportunities for our residents. We encourage you to consider living in one of our unique learning communities. These communities are designed to integrate your academic and personal interests. We also offer leadership opportunities for students who are interested in serving on a hall council, residence hall association or obtaining a position as a resident assistant or office assistant.

Learning Communities

student studying UT Arlington’s Learning Communities are all housed on-campus in the Kalpana Chawla (KC) residence hall. General learning communities serve as a geographic boundary within KC Hall where like-minded majors can live together, attend major or interest oriented programming, and rely on one another for academic and social support. For example, Engineering and Architecture majors can occupy the same area of KC Hall. We call that area a “learning community” and to assist students in identifying with their learning community we give it a fun name like “Designing the 21st Century.” Any given learning community can serve as the home to several different Freshmen Interest Groups (FIGs). To join a general learning community, simply apply for campus housing and preference KC Hall and your learning community.

Hall Councils and Residence Hall Association

Hall Council
Hall Council’s are comprised of all of the residents living in a particular Residence Hall with an executive board of either elected or appointed student representatives. The goals of the Hall Council are to provide a representative body for students to provide input into the running of the Residence Hall, to organize and implement activities for the hall, and to provide for the needs or desires of residents in the hall. On the Wednesday of the first week of school, each Hall Council hosts in interest session to provide information about the council and to offer opportunities for students to get involved. Each Hall Council will select executive board members and designate members to serve as part of the campus-wide Residence Hall Association.

Residence Hall Association (RHA)
RHA offers an exciting opportunity for residents to get involved in bettering their college experience. Comprised of members from each hall, organization members meet to plan residence hall programming and discuss residence hall concerns, policies, and facilities. Any residence hall student has the chance to join RHA as a general member, as an executive board member, or as a representative from your hall council. When you have suggestions, please contact your RHA representative. RHA members may also be given the opportunity to attend regional conferences.
