About FLOCFreshmen Leaders On Campus, a select organization for incoming Freshmen, was founded at the University of Texas at Arlington in the fall of 2002. The mission of FLOC is to promote member involvement in student governance and community service, preparing students for active participation throughout their years at UTA. FLOC provides great opportunities to make friends and to interact with varying aspects of University life. Members of FLOC quickly get involved in the University through networking with campus leaders, collaborating with other organizations and further developing leadership skills. (Check out FLOC's latest project at the official Tents of Hope site, http://www.tentsofhope.org ) Former President of Student Congress, Chris Featherstone proposed the establishment of FLOC in order to identify freshmen who have interest in leadership at UTA. Inaugural members from FLOC 2003-04 have gone on to leadership positions in various facets of student governance including roles as Student Congress Senators, Freshmen Orientation Leaders, Ambassadors and leaders in E.X.C.E.L.
