Welcome to University of Texas at Arlington Graduate Student Senate (GSS). We are glad that you decided to spend a moment here. GSS was created more than a decade ago to cater to the needs and concerns of more than 7000 graduate students at University of Texas at Arlington. We are the channel through which student concerns are brought to the attention of the deans and administrative staff of the Graduate School. Representatives from participating departments, known as Senators, make up the Graduate senate acting as a liaison between the administration and the student body. You can play an active part in the policymaking of graduate student issues and graduate education as a whole. In addition to its representative function, the GSS also organizes a number of events during the year.

Graduate School is one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences you will ever have. The Graduate Student Senate is here to make sure it’s also one of the most memorable experiences. Over the years GSS have worked extremely hard to address key issues, and we continue to do so. This year we desire to attain better housing opportunities for graduate students, conference and travel grants, awareness of safety on campus, increased printing quota for graduate students, to name a few.

Our general meetings , held every first and third Wednesday of each month, are open to all interested individuals. It is our hope that you will utilize the GSS resources to its fullest. From applying for a Travel grants (TAGSS) to present your research at a conference, spending a relaxing evening at our various social events or bringing your worries directly to us via the “Contact Us” link located on our homepage. The door is always open and we look forward to hearing from each of you. We are here to listen to you, talk to us! Help us, to serve you better.

Whether you represent your department as the senator or you are a graduate student who desires to serve the community or improve your managerial skills, we have something for you here at GSS.
