Whereas: Transportation remains an issue on the UTA campus for students, faculty, and staff; and
Whereas: There are a limited number of buses and few that can lift large wheelchairs; and
Whereas: Many of the wheelchairs that students are using will not fit onto the ramps of the shuttles; and
Whereas: Students with disabilities, especially students that are blind or utilize wheelchairs, are afraid and not able to safely cross UTA Blvd.,
Be It Therefore Resolved That: UTA invest in more buses to provide for a safer and friendly campus to all students.
Be It Further Resolved That: All new shuttle buses be universal design and be capable of lifting wheelchairs of all shapes and sizes allowing easy access into shuttle buses.
Be It Further Resolved That: That an increased period of time be allowed elaspe between new purchases, so as to cover the increase costs.
